CIRCØ (“the service”) is a browser-based reading and media translation tool at circ0.com. This policy describes how information is handled when you use the service.

What stays on your device

Books, comics, documents, and videos you open are processed entirely in your browser. Your library, reading position, highlights, custom player widths, and related configurations are stored locally on your device (for example in your browser’s storage). All media files (videos, audio, subtitles) are loaded locally; they are never uploaded to our servers. CIRCØ does not require an account for use.

What is sent to third parties

Some features need network access:

Translation. Words and phrases you choose to translate (by tapping words in books or video subtitles, or selecting text) are sent to third-party translation services (including MyMemory and Lingva-based endpoints) to retrieve translations. No media files or books are sent.
Text-to-speech (if you use it). Requested text may be sent through CIRCØ’s serverless endpoints to upstream audio providers so audio can be generated or streamed.
Comic OCR (if you use it). Image regions you select may be processed in your browser; language data for OCR may be downloaded from public CDNs.
Analytics. The site may use tools such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate usage (for example page views and interactions). Those providers process data under their own policies.

Cookies and similar technologies

Analytics and related scripts may set cookies or use similar storage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when it does.
